The only thing I didn't make was the Maraschino cherries.

Great whipped cream, I substituted 1/2 tbsp good vanilla extract and only used 1 tbsp bourbon

If only more people came over...

They look like perfect hot fudge sundaes.

Very adorable sundaes.

This ice cream recipe seems pretty easy. This must be the recipe we hand cranked in day camp in the 1970s when we weren't tie dying or watching silent films. Except they probably used extract. It was always very soft and with a grainy texture I loved and delicious flavor.

I think the difference in my summer camp was that we didn't heat up the liquid to dissolve the sugar-that could contribute to the grainy texture. We would also add wine berries which we would collect on our hikes in the Catoctin Mountains. Wine berries are amazing. I've never found them outside the mountains in Maryland and Virginia. They look like raspberries, but a deeper red.
