I'm going to close the store this weekend and go on an adventure or two. Thinking Red Bank, NJ area tomorrow. I've never been there.

Just saw my neighbors in the lobby. The Pickle King, his wife and twin 6 yr old daughters. They are headed to Vermont for an extended weekend. Packed up the Volvo wagon with enough stuff to last the entire summer. Bags and bags, suitcases, several giant coolers of food and oddly, a set of snow skis.

I may be able to get a FB photo of my friend Kirk's family (wife and three children) as they leave Thailand for Maine with a huge amount of Louis Vuitton luggage and two maids.

"The US Air Force Thunderbirds are scheduled to conduct a flyover photo mission today, Friday, 5/22, from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM, over various areas around NYC. The event will consist of six F-16 aircraft in addition to the aircraft taking photographs. The F-16's will maintain an altitude of 1500 - 2000 feet. The aircraft will travel westbound from Long Island over the water near the south shores of Queens and Brooklyn before turning and navigating north over the Verrazano Bridge, and up the east side of the Hudson River to the Tappan Zee Bridge. From there, the aircraft will turn around and travel southbound over the west side of the Hudson River to the Verrazano Bridge, before traveling northbound up the east side of the Hudson River to finish their route."

I am Jersey city now, and will be ranging as far as Astoria on Monday.
I may go for a run tomorrow that takes me south of Prospect Park.

Does that count as leaving town?

We do have plans already to spend Labor Day with a bunch of friends at cabins in Harriman State Park.

My first desk here was at a window, and I could see the Hudson River, and across to midtown if I looked at the right angle.

Now I am in an interior room and can't see any hint of the outside.
The closest windows to me (which I can't see from my desk) look into an atrium.

For years Brownstobner has ignored Dance Africa, BAM's largest event of the year.
Funny lot's of Fucktards show up and have a good time. I guess Black People or Events are not included in Neiw Bracken.

DanceAfrica 2015

DanceAfrica 2015 Bazaar
http://www.bam.org/neighborhood/2015/danceafrica-2015-bazaar

Celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Africa and its diaspora at the DanceAfrica Bazaar. More than 180 vendors from around the world transform BAM’s surrounding streets into a global marketplace offering African, Caribbean, and African-American food, crafts, and fashion.

We have several conference rooms on my floor that overlook the water, but no real place to just hang out near windows.

My building is around the midpoint of the mile long Jersey City Promenade, so when the weather is good I try to get out and take short walks.
When the weather is not so good, there is a pretty decent arcade connecting the three buildings in the complex right on the river where I can take very short walks.

I don't check Brownstoner regularly, but it seems like they tend to ignore BAM while spending a lot of attention on Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery.

Dance Africa is BAM's BIGGEST EVENT OF THE YEAR!!!!!
That's where the money rolls in for the whole year! 30+ years and still going strong.
The Parking lots are gone now, I guess everything will be in the street.

Sounds nice, Scott. Having something outdoors to stroll around is a great mental break during a work day. When I served on jury duty last month, I was impressed by the pedestrian arcade by the courthouse. Filled with people taking lunch, sitting on benches.

I don't miss working in midtown Manhattan (my last several jobs), but I do miss taking lunch. Nothing more disgusting in my daily routine than describing the virtues of particular home accessories while trying to grab a bite.

Thanks to Yellen, market could be busy Friday
http://www.cnbc.com/id/102699723

A speech by Fed Chair Janet Yellen and consumer inflation data guarantee that more traders will be working than otherwise might be ahead of the three-day Memorial Day weekend.

I wonder, why on Friday before Memorial Day Weekend.
Fun days ahead.

I almost never do lunch, unless it is with a vendor.
Most days, it's snacking on cereal and nuts at my desk.

I try to make up for it by smaller walks when I can find time.

For while I would go out with co-workers for lunch almost every day, but most times I ended up eating unhealthy crap in the cafeteria downstairs.

It amazes me how stupid people are about reply-to-all at work.

Someone accidentally sent an e-mail to a list with a couple thousand people this morning, and ever since then people keep doing a reply to all with either "I don't know why I got this message" or "Please don't reply to all"

I told my staff I would fire them if they responded to all.

We have been going through an odd internal merger for the last year with a US-chartered bank owned by the same Japanese parent company.

The end result has been a worst of both worlds situation where we are loosing the perks of being a Japanese company while still keeping all of the BS.

So much for the western drought. Denver has gotten double the amount of normal precipitation for the year. Can't drive to pikes peak due to all the recent snow. Will take the rail cog up. Raining now. They will not have there usual 300 days of sunshine this year.

What will happen if The Fed start raising interest rates, you think your Bank will survive?
The Japanese Banking system has been in a depression for the last 20 years, print Yen to the tune of 200% of GDP has done nothing.

The bank I work for seems to be very healthy, both in the US and Japan.
The expectation is that interest rates will rise, and that will in general be a good thing since margins will increase.

On the other hand, I don't have a lot of emotional or financial attachment to the company I work for.
I have worked at several companies that had major financial problems, and I know that company that seems healthy today can be bankrupt next week.
#34
May 22, 2015 10:37 AM - More4Less
Yeah, Japanese banks are super anal conservative so their biz and balance sheet is mega strong. Higher interest rate equals more biz and higher margins as Scott mentioned.
#35

"The bank I work for seems to be very healthy, both in the US and Japan."

Why are Central Banks printing Money to keep a insolvent Banking System alive?
The ECB is functionally Bankrupt (Greece anyone), The Fed is having a "Square Dance" with Interest Rates and the whole Global Picture looks bleak. Yeah Scott keep telling yourself that, as long your Key Card gets you into the building.

Like I said, I'm not married to the company I work for.
I learned that lesson 15 years ago, and have seen it repeated since then.

My expectation is that a company that has survived every crisis for the last 130 years will survive the next one, but if not then I will move on and find another job.

One of the several reasons I moved from LA to NYC is the far, far better job market here.

Dude, you keep deleting your posts so didn't see your answer.

QE is not to save banks but to force fucktards to invest and maybe spend money. And if it is to save banks, I don't really care that much as a worker at bank and living in NYC, I am gonna benefit from it.
