taking thursday and friday off this week. going to coney island with my 19 year old half sister and her "fiance" lol. this will be only the third time ive ever hung out with her. we only first met a few years ago.
i havent had an english muffin in a long time. i did like them but it's one of those foods that you know you eat a rotten or moldy one and then you can never eat it again!!! the last english muffin i ate was like half green on the bottom. ick
I am off this weekend! No kid duties (she is in MA with family), no Dad-Stepmother duties. I should clean my apartment. Yeah, like that's gonna happen!
snappy im gonna be spending my day at BBQ's in prospect park today and tomorrow. crashing them really. family bbq's, not moonface bbq's. you have to find the person at the BBQ who looks like they having the least amount of fun and run up to them and be like Heeeeeey girl, didnt we go to school together!?!? next thing you know everyone shoving food down your piehole!
coincidence....I had thomas english muffin this morning too. which is not common for me... but local supermarket had double pack on sale for $2.50
yesterday....so froze one pack.
This afternoon attending my 1st legal same-sex marriage ceremony.
are they getting married because they love each other and are gonna be faithful (lol) or because they are doing it cuz it's trendy and for the tax benefits. hmmmm
they have been together for about 30 years. so married except for law.
tax benefits I doubt factor in it.
We've been together for only 13 which makes us newbies from many of friends....many who are also in the 30 year range.
Rob, when 2 people who make about the same amount of money get married, there is a huge disadvantage tax-wise. I know lots of co-habiting old people who don't get married for that reason. But I wouldn't want to confuse you with the facts!
eh, whatever. when it comes to gays tho, mostly they are NOT in the same income range. one is almost always sponging and mooching off the other, financially.
Just popping in to apologize for missing last Thursday's party. My entire department was let go Thursday and after the emotional trauma of saying goodbye to some very wonderful people I went home and have spent a few days in bed with the dog and lots of pistachio ice cream.
Anonymous: BHI, PS, when we meet offline, I'll tell you about an unfortunate similar experience I had. Too bad you weren't here when the CDog was alive - she was a great comfort to me then, too, but, sadly, I lost her last March. And I didn't think to buy pistachio ice cream. Though, I will say that drinks at Montero's helped tremendously.
Hi everyone. I keep popping in at odd times to apologize for no longer posting and to congratulate everone on how great this site looks. I have been very, very busy and posting on blogs is no longer really an option for me (I write in a blog post).
Great! I just emailed you a place in Stuy Heights. My niece is on Johnson Ave. between Bushwick and Graham (Montrose stop on the L), but I think they are looking to move one stop further into Bushwick when their lease is up this month.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning..
saw a few nice places in clinton hill and carroll gardens - but at the end of the day prices are just too high for what you get due to low inventory and high demand, and i don't think i could be happy living in a landlord occupied building.
Nice RF! yeah - there's still pretty good deals out there off the montrose stop - but i definitely think they'll like it better further out into bushwick (around the jefferson/dekalb L stops) - more neighborhoody and less projects.
place i found is in the sweet spot of the hood - the side streets btw metropolitan and grand, btw lorimer and graham. the landlord is doing a gut of the unit and is letting us give input as far as layout and finishes go.

How did the crashing-bbq-in-the-park plan work out, rob?
nah, wound up using the change i found and bought some loosey potatos at the supermarket instead.
dh, your apartment search sounds like a nightmare. i would be completely frazzled if i had to look for my own apartment. im also not ready to live on my own anytime soon. i did it for four years and while some parts of living alone is nice, there were other things about it that were problematic.
I was asked to spend the entire day on Thursday laying off my entire team. When that was over and they were being "handled" by HR for severance, etc., I was offered a promotion. I have until Tuesday to give them an answer and have spend the past few days decided what I actually want to do with my life.
It all sounds pretty odious, BHI, but the reality is that the slaughter was out of your control so contrition isn't called for. You can rail against it but it won't accomplish anything. Given that, I'd agree w/ Minard; it's better to make decisions in the somewhat objective cool of distance.

ugh, but youre rich and loaded (im assuming). what is there to decide?
people who have tons of money and choose to work boggle my mind. you do realize it steals jobs away from people who, i dont know, NEED a paycheck to survive!? youre like the polar opposite of the stereotypical welfare queen.
Anonymous: FYI i LOVE the rain. im soaked right now actually and loving it. walked to the supermarket and back without an umbrella loving it. found 11 dollars in a coin pocket in one of my pants in the laundry and somehow had almost 5 dollars in just PENNIES! i never thought to turn in pennies really at the TD bank. bitches charged me 6% tho cuz i dont have an account! if i had wrapped them myself would they not have charged? are the wrappers free? i mean hells i counted the pennies anyway so i could try to get their stupid prize for guessing correct (i did not guess correctly) i might as well just wrapped them myself!
BHI, sorry, my comment may have been a tad brash. it's just counting pennies and and searching my room from top to bottom like some sorta crackhead gets to me at times.
LOL, I know...today would have been terrible to head out on a scouting mission! Although it won't stop me from taking myself out to dinner today :-) I refuse to cook!
cars under four feet of water on Smith and 9th also on Garfield near Fourth Ave.
Avoid Flushing Ave near the Navy Yard.
there is a lot of flooding today.
Anonymous: did you guys go to that burger place? snappy, i want to go with you there and try it out sometime this week. im trying to be less of a scrub these days and ONLY go out when i can afford to go out, which isnt all that often, but still.
im trying to think of what i can do as a second job, even if it's minimum wage, i dont really care... any suggestions? something just a few nights a week DURING the week, i dont really want to give up my weekends, tho im willing to do something on weekends that is enjoyable.
i know this is gonna sound really f'ed up, but ive always wanted to be a nighttime receptionist at a whorehouse or brothel, but those are like impossible to break into these days with the whole sanitization of the city and stuff.
